The Seventh Framework Programme (2007-2013) responds to the needs of the European Union in terms of growth and employment, and is divided into four main specific programs :
1) The Cooperation Programme aims to stimulate cooperation and to strengthen the links between industry and research within a transnational framework . The goal is to build and strengthen European leadership worldwide in key scientific and technological areas by supporting cooperation between universities , industry, research centers and public authorities in the EU and the rest of the world. The program is divided into 9 themes , self- management , but complementary with regard to the implementation:
- health;
- Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology;
- information and communication technologies ;
- Nanosciences , nanotechnologies, materials and new production technologies;
- energy;
- Environment (including climate change);
- Transport (including Aeronautics);
- socio-economic sciences and humanities;
- security and space.
2) The Ideas program is intended to enhance the frontier research in Europe , namely the discovery of new knowledge that fundamentally changes our view of the world and our way of life.
3) The People program mobilizes significant financial resources to improve the career perspectives of researchers in Europe and attract a greater number of quality young researchers.
4) The Capacities program is to provide researchers with effective tools to enhance the quality and competitiveness of European research.
CIP
The main objective of the program is to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the Competitiveness and innovation ( including eco -innovation) , provides better access to finance and deliver business support services in the regions.
Promotes better absorption and utilization of information and communication technologies (ICT) and helps to develop the information society.
The CIP is divided into three operational programs.
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP)
- The Information Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (ICT- PSP)
- The Intelligent Energy Europe Programme (IEE)
LIFE +
The LIFE program is the EU funding instrument for the environment. The general objective of LIFE is to contribute to the implementation , updating and development of Community environmental policy and legislation by co- financing pilot or demonstration projects with European added value . LIFE started in 1992 and to date there have been three phases complete the program (LIFE I: 1992-1995 LIFE II: 1996-1999 and LIFE III: 2000-2006). During this period, LIFE has co-financed some 3,104 projects throughout the EU , contributing approximately € 2.2 billion to the protection of the environment, and is divided into 3 sub-programs :
- LIFE + Nature and Biodiversity
- LIFE + Environment Policy & Governance
- LIFE + Information and Communication
